This area is home to many different varieties of mushrooms, from <strong>boletus<\/strong> to the <strong>prized Caesar&#8217;s mushroom<\/strong>, from <strong>chanterelles<\/strong> (or<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> iadduzzeddi<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) to <strong>parasol mushroom<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But underground there is an even more precious treasure. Indeed, Sicily is a land of <\/span><b>highly prized truffles, <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">that can be found <strong>all year round<\/strong> in limestone soils. The richest areas for this type of fungus are the <strong>east<\/strong> &#8211; especially in the provinces of <strong>Siracusa<\/strong> and <strong>Ragusa<\/strong> &#8211; and the <strong>west<\/strong> part of the island &#8211; above all, around the <strong>Sicani mountains<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Other places where truffles can be found are <strong>Alcamo and Monte Inici<\/strong> in <\/span><b>Castellammare del Golfo<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, in the province of <strong>Trapani<\/strong>; the <strong>Palermo<\/strong> area with <strong>Partinico<\/strong>, <strong>Cinisi<\/strong>, <strong>Ficuzza<\/strong>, <strong>Godrano<\/strong>; and the <strong>Madonie area<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Every year, in autumn, many towns in Sicily organise <strong>festivals celebrating the forest&#8217;s protagonists<\/strong>.
